For the first time wind and solar systems produce electricity with an output in excess of 30,000 MW

On Friday 14/09/2012, between 1 pm and 2 pm, wind and solar systems in Germany supplied the German federal power grid with a total output of around 31,500 MW of electricity. This is a new record, passing the previous best that was set on 09/06/2012 (around 29,750 MW). The proportion of wind and solar power provided on that day peaked at 45 per cent of total German power plant output (around 69,400 MW between 1 pm and 2 pm). (To the Press Release)
